}"

Back pain is one of the leading causes for prescription pain medication use. Unfortunately, it tends to devolve further into greater pain, surgery and decreased mobility.

Treated early with regenerative medicine and physical therapy, many back pain sources can be reversed.

Back pain is a prominent contributor to disability worldwide and a frequent trigger for patient visits to the doctor. The discomfort can be anything from a dull muscular ache to a shooting pain that travels down your leg and back and gets worse as you move. Even though rest and at-home care can often help with back pain, there may still be a need for medical measures. At Southern Pain & Spine Specialists, we offer back pain therapy in Charlotte to lessen your suffering.

Regenerative Medicine Options for Back Pain in Matthews

Regenerative Medicine for Back Pain

Regenerative medicine is a part of our interdisciplinary approach to pain care for the greater Charlotte region. The use of stem cells and PRP therapy are examples of regenerative medicine. These procedures give patients an alternative to invasive procedures while enabling the body to repair itself.

Back and neck discomfort are reduced, mobility is increased, and quality of life is improved thanks to regenerative therapies that help regenerate, replace, or repair damaged tissues. PRP therapy is utilized for less severe joint disorders, whilst stem cell therapy is used for more complex surgeries.

Regenerative Medicine – PRP Therapy for the Back

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, has several medical applications that take advantage of the body’s natural healing abilities. Back pain and other musculoskeletal ailments are treated at Southern Pain & Spine Specialists with PRP therapy. This procedure involves drawing the patient’s own blood and centrifuging it. The treatment location is then reinjected with platelet-rich plasma to encourage quicker recovery.

Stem Cell Therapy for Back Pain

Stem cell therapy could be suggested for back injuries or more severe back discomfort. Instead of depending on drugs or surgery, we can tackle the real cause of your discomfort with this ground-breaking technique. Patients may have the opportunity to forgo risky, invasive surgery thanks to stem cell therapy.

For back discomfort, cutting-edge treatment options include stem cell therapy. The following advantages are provided to patients:

1. As contrast to a very intrusive procedure, the treatment is less invasive.

2. Reduced downtime is required. Instead of months, the healing time might be measured in days.

3. The therapy encourages quicker, natural healing, which improves mobility and function.

4. As the swelling goes down and the tissues are healed, back discomfort is lessened.

Interventional Spinal Injections

Back pain can be identified and treated with injections. Back pain can be treated without surgery or opioids using interventional spinal injections. Healing can start right away thanks to medication that includes an anti-inflammatory solution and is administered straight to the wounded area. In the office, treatments take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, and monitoring takes an additional 15 minutes.

Epidural Injections – Transforaminal, Intralaminar, Caudal

Without requiring surgery, back pain and decreased mobility can be treated with epidural injections. In order to alleviate inflammation, steroids are injected into the epidural space and surrounding the spinal nerves. An epidural is a method of pain relief, not a treatment. Before considering surgery, the treatment provides the body time to recuperate and enables the doctor to address underlying difficulties.

Medial Branch Blocks / Facet Joint Injections

Along the spinal column, the facet joints are prone to damage, deterioration, and illness. A facet joint injection or medial branch block is a minimally invasive outpatient surgery. A local anesthetic and a corticosteroid are injected into the wounded area during the treatment, which takes around 15 minutes. Reduced inflammation and long-lasting back pain alleviation are the outcomes.

Radiofrequency Ablation

A minimally invasive, non-surgical method of pain management is radiofrequency ablation. In this procedure, radio waves are used to destroy or heat nerve tissue, blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain. Pain from sacroiliitis, arthritis, and chronic low back pain can all be treated by radiofrequency nerve ablation.

Selective Nerve Block (SNRB) Injection

The nerve root in the spinal column may become irritated or inflamed, resulting in neck and back pain. A herniated disc, bone spur, or inflamed nerve are a few examples of conditions that can result in discomfort, numbness, and tingling. Injections used to selectively block nerves give medicine to the nerve root, decreasing pain and inflammation. Within a few days of treatment, back pain reduction is felt.

Lumbar Sympathetic Block Treatment

A lumbar sympathetic block reduces low back pain brought on by a variety of conditions, including reflex sympathetic dystrophy, complicated regional pain syndrome, and peripheral neuropathy. The sympathetic nerves in the low back are given an anesthetic and steroid injection.

Trigger Point Injections

Painful sensitive areas, or trigger points, form in tense bands of muscle, typically in the back or shoulder. An effective pain treatment method for reducing muscle pain is a trigger point injection. A tiny, sterilized needle is used to administer anesthesia and corticosteroid. After receiving treatment, patients start to feel less discomfort.

Sacroiliac Joint Injections

Back discomfort in the lower back might be brought on by sacroiliac joint inflammation. Your pain can be identified and treated with a sacroiliac joint injection. An SI joint injection lowers joint swelling and may offer months-long relief from back pain.

Ganglion Impar Block

There are both diagnostic and therapeutic uses for ganglion impar blockers. Back or perineal pain is brought on by damage to or injury to the ganglion impar nerve, which is located behind the tailbone. The risks and adverse effects of a ganglion nerve block are minimal to nonexistent. In addition to reducing inflammation and relieving pain, medication is administered right to the treatment site.

Common Back Conditions

Back pain has many different origins and is a common condition. An untreated vertebral misalignment, an underlying illness, a muscle strain or an injury can all result in pain. Common causes include:

• Coccyx Pain

• Compression Fracture

• Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

• Piriformis Syndrome

• Sciatica or pinched Nerve

• Disc Disease – Herniation or Bulge

• Osteoarthritis
